Write for us — no-exam life insurance

We accept no-exam life insurance guest posts from product, underwriting and data people who can explain how accelerated, simplified and guaranteed issue actually work.

Write for us — no-exam life insurance

This is the narrowest of our four contributor pages, and the one closest to what the site is actually about.

No-exam is not one product. It is three — accelerated underwriting, simplified issue and guaranteed issue — and almost everything written about them online treats them as interchangeable. If you have built one, priced one, or run the models behind one, you can write something that does not currently exist on the open web.

Who we publish

Product managers and product actuaries who have launched or maintained an underwriting">accelerated underwriting program. What the eligibility rules were, what got cut in scope, what broke in production.

Data scientists and modelling teams working on predictive underwriting. Feature selection, model governance, drift, the audit process — the parts that never make it into a press release.

Underwriters who work the referrals that come out of the automated path. You see the cases the model could not decide, which makes you the person who knows what the model is actually bad at.

Simplified issue product designers. The knockout question set is a genuine piece of design work and nobody has ever written about it properly.

Direct-to-consumer and insurtech operators — conversion, drop-off, the gap between an instant decision and a delivered policy.

Reinsurers. Accelerated programs exist within treaty terms that most people writing about them have never seen.

Agents who place a lot of no-exam business and can say which carriers' "instant" decisions are actually instant.

What we are looking for

The mechanism, not the marketing. Specifically:

  • How an accelerated underwriting model is validated before launch, and re-validated after
  • What a random holdout actually is, why carriers run them, and what share of applications they take
  • Which data sources drive the decision — MIB, prescription history, MVR, credit-based attributes — and what each one contributes
  • Why an application gets kicked from accelerated into full underwriting, ranked by frequency
  • How simplified issue knockout questions are chosen, and what each one is really screening for
  • Guaranteed issue economics: pricing a product that cannot decline anyone, and how the graded death benefit period is set
  • Face amount and age limits on the no-exam path, and what drives where carriers draw them
  • What "instant decision" means operationally, and where the remaining delay actually sits
  • Fluidless underwriting — what replaced the blood draw and how well it substitutes
  • Regulatory scrutiny of algorithmic underwriting: NAIC activity, state bulletins, unfair discrimination testing

Around 1,200–2,000 words. If you need 3,000 to explain a model governance process properly, take them.

What we reject

Rate figures with no traceable source. Our most common rejection. Name the carrier guide, the filing, or the rate card. "Industry standard" is not a source.

"Top 10 no-exam life insurance companies" listicles. Every one of these is an affiliate page. We do not publish them.

Conflating the three products. A piece that uses "no exam" to mean all of accelerated, simplified and guaranteed issue interchangeably has already lost the thread.

Vendor content. If the piece exists to position one platform, model or carrier, it is an ad. Ads are a commercial placement and get labelled as such.

Unlabelled AI output. Our AI content policy covers how we use these tools ourselves. Model-generated prose presented as operating experience, or invented statistics, is an automatic rejection.

Anything that gets you in trouble. Do not send us proprietary model weights, unpublished manual thresholds, or anything under NDA. We will not publish it, and we would rather you kept your job. Write about mechanism and shape, not about numbers you are not free to share.

Links and disclosure

Citations to filings, NAIC documents, carrier product guides and research are dofollow and are the main thing that gets a piece accepted.

Links to your own platform, agency or product are marked rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow", without exception and regardless of any commercial arrangement. If a link's value depends on passing authority, this is not the right site.

Anyone with a commercial interest in what they are writing about gets a disclosure line naming it at the top of the piece.

Placement options and turnaround

Editorial contributions from practitioners are free. If your piece is accepted on merit you pay nothing, ever. The tiers below are for businesses wanting a commercial placement, which is a different thing and is labelled as such on the page.

Placement What you get Review Turnaround
Editorial contribution Full article, byline and credentials, dofollow citations to sources Full editorial review, may be rejected 2–3 weeks
Link insertion One contextual link added to an existing relevant article Relevance check 3–5 days
Sponsored article Article published with a sponsored label and disclosure line Accuracy and compliance review 5–7 days
Sponsored feature Sponsored article plus placement in the related-links block on the matching product pages Accuracy and compliance review 7–10 days

Every commercial placement carries a visible sponsored label, a disclosure line and rel="sponsored" on commercial links. That applies at every tier and a fee does not change it.

Rates for the commercial tiers on request through the contact page.

Topics we would commission tomorrow

  • What actually happens in the ninety seconds after you submit an accelerated application
  • Random holdouts explained by someone who has designed one
  • The knockout question set, line by line, and what each question screens for
  • Why prescription data outperforms self-reported health history, with the failure modes
  • How a carrier decides its accelerated face amount ceiling
  • Model drift in underwriting: how it is detected and what happens when it is found
  • Guaranteed issue pricing: the graded benefit period as an actuarial instrument
  • What fluidless underwriting gives up compared with a blood draw, honestly assessed
  • The referral queue: what the model sends to a human, and what humans do with it
  • State regulatory scrutiny of algorithmic underwriting — where it currently stands
  • Conversion economics of instant-decision life insurance, from someone who has run the funnel
  • Why the same applicant gets three different answers from three no-exam carriers

How to pitch

Send the pitch, not the finished article. One paragraph on the argument, one on why you are the person to make it, and the sources you intend to use.

Use the contact page with "No-exam guest post pitch" in the subject.

Reading our no-exam life insurance page first will tell you what we have already covered and at what depth, and will make your pitch considerably stronger.

Questions we get asked

How is this different from your insurance write-for-us page? That one is about insurance mechanism broadly — claims, regulation, reinsurance, impaired-risk placement. This one is specifically about the three no-exam products and the machinery behind them. If your piece is about an accelerated model, a knockout question set or guaranteed issue pricing, it belongs here. If it is about how underwriting works generally, pitch it there.

I work at a carrier. Can I write without approval? That is between you and your employer, and we would rather you asked first. We are happy to publish under a described role rather than a named employer where that is what makes the piece possible — "an underwriter at a top-20 US carrier" is a real byline for these purposes, provided we can verify it privately.

Do you pay contributors? No, and you pay nothing either. Editorial contributions are unpaid on both sides. What you get is a byline on a site that will not publish anything it cannot source.

Will you publish something critical of accelerated underwriting? Yes, and we would like to. The category is under-criticised because most of what is written about it is written by people selling it. Bring evidence rather than vibes.

Can I use my company's proprietary data? Yes, and we like it. We will ask about methodology and sample size, and we will describe it as your company's data rather than presenting it as an industry figure.

What if my article needs a diagram? Send it. Decision flows and funnel diagrams are welcome and often carry more than the prose does. Editable source, not a screenshot, if you have it.

Do you accept AI-assisted drafts? On the same terms we hold ourselves to in our AI content policy. A model can help you draft; it cannot be the source of a factual claim. We check citations, and fabricated references end the relationship.

This is research, not advice. No Exam Life Insurance Online is an independent publisher, not a carrier or agency, and sells nothing. Underwriting outcomes vary by carrier, by state and by individual file, and carriers revise their guides without notice. Confirm anything that affects a decision with an agent licensed in your state before you apply.

When a carrier changes its manual, we rewrite the page
